In 2016, while traveling with my family on the island of Crete, I discovered a magical glass workshop and restaurant. Everything there — from the lamps to the dishes — was made of colorful blown glass, as if in a fairytale. One evening, I met a young woman named Pelli, the daughter of the master glassblower. She served us with such warmth that I decided to paint her portrait. Later, we became friends, and years after, I returned to Crete to gift her a calendar with her portrait inside — a gesture that touched her deeply.

The painting also carries the timeless symbolism of the pomegranate. From the myths of ancient Greece, it is known that the pomegranate fruit grants immortality. One legend says that the goddess of love, Aphrodite, planted the first pomegranate tree in Cyprus. This is why, at Greek weddings, the breaking of a pomegranate symbolizes fertility.

Thus, the portrait of Pelli becomes intertwined with the myth of the pomegranate — a symbol of love, fertility, and eternal life.

How to Frame Your Artwork

Works on paper (drawings / prints on paper)

I ship works on paper unframed. Ready-made frames are easy to find (e.g., IKEA’s classic RIBBA). Most include a white mat (mount) that lets the artwork “breathe.”

  • Choose white or black frames/mats to suit your space.
  • Black mats usually need to be purchased separately.
  • You can echo a color from the piece (e.g., a subtle green frame) or pick an ornate wooden frame for a more classic/gothic interior.

Canvas paintings

Canvases are usually displayed without an outer frame—the edges are painted as a continuation of the image for a clean, contemporary look.

If you prefer a frame, choose an open (floater) frame: it mounts from behind and leaves a slim gap around the canvas, adding visual “air” without covering the composition.

Art prints

Many of my prints are offered already framed and marked on the product page as “Framed Print.” In that case, no extra framing is needed.

I also offer unframed prints at a lower price—perfect if you want to choose your own frame. For unframed options, standard ready-made frames (like IKEA RIBBA) work well; canvas prints pair beautifully with floater frames. Please check each listing’s details for size and finish.
